The Dambusters
raid was in 1943; they practiced on the Derwent Dam in Derbyshire near our home in Derbyshire.
In 1993 at the 50th anniversary there was a maasive remembering. The Bamford Rector invited the churches in the Mohne Dam area to send representatives as a symbolic act of reconciliation. Since then there has been an annual exchange visit between Bamford and the Mohnesee area.
We first visited in 2003 and were very moved by the experience; the Mohne Dam, which was breached, being uncannily like our Derwent Dam
Jenny did many paintinggs.
We went again in 2008 and Jenny was invited to show some of her pictures.
